Sealed Earth represents a collection of functional tableware crafted from saggar-fired porcelain and Cornish Stoneware. The pieces within this range are intentionally left unglazed and are instead sealed with Liquid Quartz, a non-toxic and food-safe water-based sealer. This transformative sealer provides waterproofing and imparts highly stain-resistant properties, making the tableware fully functional and  practical.

The tableware's high fired to to ensure durability. Subsequently, it is fired for a second time within a saggar, which contains a combination of hard and soft wood shavings, seaweed from the Devon coast, as well as leaves, plants, nuts, grasses and ferns sourced from the picturesque environment of Dartmoor.

Sealed Earth Tableware – Commission Only

My sealed earth tableware is available by commission only, due to the very time-consuming aftercare involved. Each piece requires careful scrubbing, sanding, and sealing using Liquid Quartz sealer from Australia—a product specifically designed for this type of work.

Because of the intensive labor and high cost of the sealer, it is not feasible to produce these pieces for general sale at a price that reflects their true value. Commissioning allows me to dedicate the necessary time and care to create durable, beautiful tableware tailored to each client’s needs.
